Your Visit
Our new entrance is handicapped accessible, convenient, and well protected from bad weather. If you are riding with someone else, your driver can pull right up to this entrance. There is no curb on the walkway. Patients using canes, crutches, walkers, and wheelchairs will have a clear, level path to the door with no obstacles. If assistance is needed, help is available. Your driver can step inside and tell someone in the reception office that extra help is needed. One of our staff members will be happy to give assistance.

For those driving their own cars, ample parking is available next to the entrance. The surface from your car door to our door is flat and free of obstacles.

Once inside the corridor, you will find yourself in a hallway with clearly marked doors leading to the reception rooms. The first door leads to Radiation Oncology reception. The second doorway (center above) has a sign that reads PET/CT/CT/MRI reception. This is the door to our reception area.

Plan to arrive about 15 minutes before your appointment. This will allow time for paperwork at the reception desk and changing into your examination gown. Once you have checked it, a member of our staff will meet you in the receiving room and guide you to the changing area. This person will inform you about your imaging procedure and guide you through every step. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have.

You will have plenty of time to change into an examination gown. Here, your clothing will be quite safe and your valuables can be locked in a cabinet during the imaging exam. If a relative or companion is with you, he or she can be with you here.

o
Each changing room has a large mirror and a signal cord to call for help if needed.

After changing you will be shown to the examination suite. PET/CT patients will have one more preparation stop before the imaging examination starts.

Once in the examination suite, you can relax on the examination couch. CT patients may receive instructions to hold a breath occasionally during the exam. Most CT examinations take 15 to 30 minutes. Some take longer.

MRI exams usually take 20 minutes to 1 hour. As in the case of CT, some may take longer. Here you can listen to music through special headphones if you like. If you have a favorite CD, bring it with you. We will be happy to play it for you.

MRI exams can take anywhere from 20 minutes to one hour and even more in some situations.

When your imaging examination is finished, our staff member will show you back to the changing room. If you have someone with you, he or she will be invited to rejoin you.

Once you have dressed, simply check back with the reception desk to check out and be on your way.
